I couldn’t be more excited to share Daniel and Raquel’s gorgeous rooftop wedding! I met Raquel about a year ago at Pure Barre. She heard I was a photographer and wanted to chat about her upcoming wedding. I had coffee with her and Daniel soon after and the rest is history.
Raquel has grown to be one of my closest friends and having the honor to be by her side and photograph one of the most important days of her life was so special. Over the past year I have been able to spend time with Daniel and Raquel and I can wholeheartedly say they are an extremely amazing pair. They just work. They love each other for all the right reasons and have been together now for 6 years . They also live in an itty bitty apartment and share one tiny closet (Raquel’s side is the smallest) and they are still together and now even married, so if that isn’t a testament to their true commitment, I don’t know what is!
Raquel’s details couldn’t have been more perfect. The ring. Her shoes. The clutch. The flowers. The dress. I was in ‘detail’ bliss as a photographer. Raquel wore her mother’s wedding dress. It may have been altered and changed ever so slightly but it was the original dress her mom wore on her own wedding day. How amazing it must have felt for Raquel to know that the same dress in which her mother started her happily ever after was now the same one that she would use to say ‘I do’ to Daniel. The dress was not just a dress, it was a blessing, a wish from mother to daughter for a life filled with love, joy and happiness.
The venue was the rooftop of the Center in the Square and the weather could not have been more perfect. It’s always nerve racking when it’s days before a wedding and everyone is watching the weather so closely since most everything about their day was based outdoors. To our surprise, the temperature cooled down significantly, it was partly cloudy, and they had one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen in Roanoke. A huge flock of birds even circled around the rooftop at one point creating the craziest show in the sky.
This crew LOVED to dance. I had to hold myself back on posting too many embarrassing dance photos but I added a few ; )
Daniel and Raquel – I wish you both years of hugs. Kisses. Samson snuggles. Tons of laughs. Lots of adventures together. And so much LOVE <3
